The KAZU TIME Show-Cooking Challenges!
5.95 min. | 5.0 user rating | 1193 views
The KAZU TIME Show -BELIEVE- Episode 2: "Cooking Challenges!" When I lived with my family, my mother always cooked all the delicious home made food. I respect and appreciate my parents so much more now for all their sacrifice, trust, belief, love, and care. I want to help introducing Japanese culture and tradition by making some Japanese food. I made "餃子: Gyoza - Japanese Style Potstickers," "カリフォルニアロール巻き: California Roll," and "カレーライス: Japanese Style Curry Rice." I did my best, and I hope you like them. There are simply many different cooking styles with different ingredients, and this is just my way of cooking style out of many others. So, please choose, find, and create your own way which you feel easier for you to cook, thank you. 1. Japanese Style Potsticker! Prepare Gyoza filling: sliced leeks (韮), cabbages, minced mixed meat of beef and pork, eggs, garlic paste, ginger paste, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper and potato starch (片栗粉). Fold the Gyoza wrapper in a semicircle to seal the top. After broiling, adding some water in the pan to steam. 2. California Roll! Adding Sushi vinegar on the rice. Put a sheet of dried seaweed on top of the bamboo mat (Makisu) with plastic wrap. Spread Sushi rice on top of the seaweed. Sprinkle sesame seeds. Place slices of cucumber, avocado and crab meat with mayonnaise lengthwise on the seaweed. Roll the bamboo mat forward, pressing the ingredients inside the cylinder-shaped Sushi. Press firmly the mat with

Famous Taiping Popiah or Fresh Spring Rolls
1.05 min. | 0 user rating | 709 views
Popiah or fresh spring rolls are delicious. They are eaten with a sweet sauce such as a bean sauce, a blended soy sauce or oyster sauce or a shrimp paste sauce and with hot chilli sauce before it is filled. The filling is mainly finely grated and steamed or stir-fried turnip or mengkuang which has been cooked. Other ingredients include bean sprouts, French beans, and lettuce leaves, grated carrots, thinly sliced fried tofu, finely chopped peanuts or peanut powder, fried shallots, and shredded fried eggs. Other common variations of popiah include include pork (lightly seasoned and stir-fried), shrimp or crab meat. Some hawkers will add fried pork lard. In Taiping, you will find the best popiah at the Air Kacang Taiping coffee shop at the corner of Jalan Panggung Wayang and Jalan Kelab Cina. Say hi to Ah Kuan, second generation popiah seller who inherited this delicious recipe from his mum who made Taiping popiah famous at the Tai Chien restaurant during the early 60s. In mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan there are "popiah parties" at home, where the ingredients are laid out and guests make their own popiah with proportions of ingredients to their own personal liking.
